Chapter 6 - Our Hope For The Future

Mr. Mitchell's notes:

- nothing more compelling than a great story...hint, hint (coming soon)

- ESPN on earth - the score give on the Gainsville State and Faith Christian along with the story.
- ESPN in heaven - the story about how Faith Christian was "Jesus", no score needed

Question for the staff: what is the most important thing you will take from reading this book?

BEST CHAPTER: Chapter 5 - An Investment That Keep On Giving

Mr. Mitchell's Chapter 5 notes:

Probably the most important point I try to drive across to anyone who is a donor to FMCS - "thank you for your investment into our children!"

This chapters starts to focus on a key area right now - finances! It used to be that when people asked for help, they needed a certain amount to help cover what they could not pay. Now it is getting to the point that they want it all - a full ride - and we do not do that.

However, and I mean HOWEVER: I totally agree with the last sentence of the second paragraph on page 54!

If you have never read it, please read Jenna Billman's testimony on our website: http://fmcs-fl.org/category/praise/

pg. 55-57 - wow, no cell phones!

Pg. 57-59, question to ask: great! As well as ROI

Out of this chapter, weren't he stories powerful? Coming soon "Tell Ma A Story..."

Affluenza - food one!

Stewardship = Surrender!

Page 63 is excellent!

It's your turn:

Chapter 4: The Human Touch

Well, I would think that the teacher that has sent over 33,000 personalized birthday letters has to be an amazing highlight. I wonder if that is what stands out the most to his students - the letter and the personal attention they received over knowledge?

I think this chapter focuses on something that needs to be a selling point for our school - personalized attention from teachers. The statement on page 46 starts our conversation - "(teachers) are living curriculum, and the Scriptures teach us that when students are fully taught, they will be like their teachers." So I wonder, how are your students like you? what do you think they "copy" from you or remember about you?

Chapter 3: "World-Class Learning"

Teaser - come back August 3rd to find out what "+1" means...teacher code for this year

I am taking a different appproach on my opinions this chapter but feel free to submit yours in any way that you want.

Prayers:
- for enrollment
- families that firmly believe and are dedicated to CHRISTIAN schools
- that parents believe and that we do provide the "BEST EDUCATION" for our children (pg. 34)
- with all that we here from media and ministries, pray for the Christian schools in China
- (pg 40) that parents feel that we, no matter who they are (east to get along with or not) embrace their entire family and feel that their children are receiving a education in a safe and loving environment. (personally, I think that is what we are most known for in the community)
- for the school voucher movement in Florida
- I am confident that faith is integrated in our fine arts programs as a "light" for other to see
- This is more personal base don the note on pg. 42 - that parents truly see that there is a huge difference between charter schools and Christian schools and that they just do not fall for the line "free tuition"

Ok, your turn...hope your summer is going well!

Chapter 2: What's "Christian" About Christian School's?

pg. 22 "...but during the learning process, their teachers help them continually connect the dots between the various academic disciplines and the external nature of God's truth." That is your role every day and in every subject!

pg. 24 - what values and and principles guide YOUR daily work with students?

pg. 26 - (Christian education) "it's all about applying biblical truths to all the philosophies and issues and challenges of our time so that our students will have hearts aflame with love for God and minds empowered by the truth of God." The only way this will happen is if we lead them along that path at every grade level and help them see the connection.

pg. 30-32 - the other great side of Christian schools: teachers who model it and live it

Chapter 1: Helping Students Achieve Their Full Potential

Chapter 1 notes:
- pg. 10: 3 John 4: "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in the truth" I feel that summarizes why I do what I do - you can't beat that joy and that is what drives me every day.

- Pg. 12-16: I like it that his statements about home, school and church are also included in our mission statement. I really feel that we need to push this on our parents next year - how all three are necessary for the success of their child. Also see the paragraph on pg. 16 that starts "The best solution..."

Your thoughts???

"Introduction: Around the World in Twenty-two Thousand Schools"

A couple of comments made about the U.S. schools stood out to me:

"High teach and high touch - that's the approach that Victory World Christian takes to achieve its goal of equipping students to be strong Christians who are academically prepared to change their world." pg. 6

"Other kinds of Christian schools are those that are know for..."

What are we known for?
